Mary Ellen Giglio, 61, of Sandia Park, NM, unexpectedly passed away on May 29, 2025. She was born on 28 January 1964 in Lackawanna NY to the late James and Mary Ann Goins. Beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and devoted servant of God passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.
Mary moved to Wichita KS as a teenager and graduated from Northwest High School in 1982. She then earned her associate degree and worked as a radiology technician in x-ray, CT and MRI for several years, advancing to launch and then manage the first MRI clinic in Kansas. During this time, she also earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration and married Tod.
A few years after their marriage Tod took a commission in the US Air Force and Mary resigned her position due to the frequent moves the military demands. During this next phase of her life Mary completed master’s degrees in both Education and Sacred Theology. She also worked as a radiology tech, unit clerk, parish administrator, college professor and taught in Catholic schools. Through the many moves, living in the US and Europe, Mary also home schooled her children.
Moving to NM in 2010 Mary began teaching in the Archdiocese of Santa Fe and became principal at St Therese School. Most recently, in 2024 she retired, and home schooled her grandchildren. She was eagerly looking forward to Tod’s retirement and starting their next phase of life together.
She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years Tod A. Giglio; daughters Tara (Jeremy) Giglio-Epley and Tasha (Jesse) Murphy of Wichita, KS; Victoria (RJ) Giglio-Morgan, Tessa (Travis) Lester, and Tegan (Layne) Giglio of Sandia Park, NM; sisters Jenny Ann (Bill) Clay of Anchorage, AK, Sharon Goins Koehn and Kathleen Ann (Alan) Lieber of Wichita, KS, and Ann Marie (Mark) Sternberger of Maize, KS; and 13 grandchildren.
Mary was devoted to God in every aspect of her life. She served faithfully in the Catholic Church for over 43 years teaching and then directing CCD and RCIA programs, as a member of parish councils and women’s guilds, and was parish administrator for the largest American Catholic parish in Europe located at Ramstein AB, Germany.
