Mary Floyd

March 3, 1921 — April 14, 2024

Mary was born in New York City March 3, 1921. When she was 5 the family moved to Leonia, NJ. She later graduated from Columbia University and Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, NY with a Bachelor of Science an R.N. plus a CRNA. She was married to Vaun T. Floyd, MD, FACS for 62 years when he passed on May 30, 2007. Mary gave anesthesia at both Columbia and Cornell medical centers in NYC while her husband was in a 4 year residency in NYC and 1 year in Boston to earn his surgical boards. They moved to Albuquerque the summer of 1958. Mary is a past Deacon at First Presbyterian Church and past President of the Bernalillo County Medical Auxiliary. She went on to start the Nancy Floyd Haworth Foundation to support women in New Mexico affected by breast cancer.

Mary and Vaun had five children Nancy, Taylor, Barbara, Maryann and John William.

They had 12 grandchildren and 15 great grand children. She was an avid reader, loved painting and knitting and had a passion for golf. At the age of 103 she has witnessed a remarkable span of history, both in America and globally, characterized by profound changes in society, technology, and politics. She left a great impact on those who knew her and her memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Presbyterian Health Foundation or to an organization that helps people with cancer screening and care.

Services will be held on May 23rd at 10:00 AM at Sandia Presbyterian Church
