Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Mary Louise Shelton Duggin, born in Albuquerque, NM, on Sunday, January 26, 1930, departed this earth to be with our Heavenly Father on Thursday, April 9, 2026. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose life was filled with love and joy. Mary Lou will be remembered for her love of family, her creative talent, and her many "long and detailed" stories. Though we grieve her loss, we celebrate the faithful life she lived on this earth.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 74 years, Billy W. Duggin; brother, John Louis Shelton, and his wife, Janet. She was a loving mother of three children; she was preceded in death by her son, Ronald W. Duggin, and is survived by her daughter, Gail Henry, and her husband, Pat, and James D. Duggin and his wife, Veronnie. Mary Lou was Grandma to grandchildren, Cory Duggin and wife Stephanie, Shelly Henry Daigle and husband Seth, Brandon Henry and wife Brandie, Ryan Duggin and wife Kyli, and Mason Duggin, and five great-grandchildren, Katie and Morgan Henry, Avery and Luke Daigle, and Io Duggin.

She was a loyal wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dog lover, while living her life with great passion. She dedicated herself to being a stay-at-home mom while using and loving her great talent for sewing, from making all of Gail's dresses to making her husband Bill's shirts and pants. She also made drapes and upholstered furniture beautifully. As her children got older, she worked as a dental assistant for many years and worked in retail at a fabric store. Vacations included the entire family, leaving great memories from camping, traveling, archery, boating, and fishing. Once retired, she played hard with her husband by her side, golfing, traveling with RV friends, and spending winters as snowbirds in Arizona.

She will be greatly missed but will live in our hearts forever.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at French Funerals -Lomas Chapel, followed by a reception from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm at French Funerals - Lomas Reception Room.

A special thank you to Presbyterian Hospital, Dr. Guillermo Romero, and his nurses and techs, who gave her special care. And a very special thank you to Albuquerque Compassus Hospice, Elizabeth Ross, Executive Director.
