Mary E. Bruskas, age 75, a long-time resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous battle with cancer. The youngest of five children, she was born in Boise, Idaho, to Marlyn and Ellen Cram.
She was preceded in death by her parents Marlyn and Ellen Cram, her siblings, Bob, Beverly, Sue and Merle; her husband James L. Bruskas, and both of her former husbands Robert C. Hawkins and Peter J. Thomas.
She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Sonja Perrault-Bird and Billy Bird, Bobi Hawkins and Andrew Lutzky, and Heather and Michael Fried; her partner Dan Akenhead; seven grandchildren Keith Hawkins, Matthew Johnson, Cristopher Johnson, Joseph Perrault, Ashley Perrault, Aiden Fried and Ryan Fried; and great grandchildren Alanna, Wayne and Abigail.
After a childhood near Lake Michigan and living in various locations due to her husband's military service, Mary settled in Albuquerque in 1980. She enjoyed family gatherings, dancing, country music, crafts, gardening, and watching hummingbirds from her patio, as well as spending time at Elephant Butte Lake. Mary will be missed by many family members and friends alike.
A Celebration of Life will be held at FRENCH-Wyoming on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 4:00pm.
