Marvin Martin Plugge was born on May 1, 1934, in Columbus, NE to Alfred Plugge and Matilda Korte Plugge. He married Nadyne Ann Beck in August 1955. He attended The University of Nebraska Lincoln where he earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1957. After graduating, he was offered 14 different engineering positions across the US. He accepted a job at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque New Mexico in 1957 where he worked for 42 years. He and Nadyne were married for nearly 65 years and had four children, seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. They were deeply in love. Nadyne died in May 2020 and he missed her every day.

Marv was an avid wood worker, hunter, traveler, square dancer, and he was always up for a party. He and Nadyne had a large group of friends that they spent time with and traveled with. They attended St Luke Lutheran Church for nearly 68 years. After his retirement, he was very busy volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, the Atomic Museum, Manzano Mesa Intergenerational Center, and the Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau. They enjoyed so many friendships through the church, Thunderbirds of Sandia, The Coronado Club, The Desert Swingers Square Dancers, The German Club of America, Habitat for Humanity, and his work at the Labs.

His family was very important to him. We had many family vacations together visiting Lake Powell, Galveston Texas, Taos, Banff Canada, Temecula California, Pagosa Springs and South Fork Colorado, Glacier National Park, Ireland, yearly trips to Nebraska, and numerous camping trips. Nadyne and Marv visited every US state Capitol and made many trips around the world. Marv was a dedicated husband, father and friend. He will be greatly missed. He died on June 2, 2026, after a cancer reoccurrence. He was surrounded by his four children, Martin (Holly), David (LuAnne), Janet and Carol (Regan), during the last days of his life. He was so loved and is now with our Lord and his beautiful wife Nadyne.

Marv and Nadyne purchased property and built a cabin in the Zuni Mountains in the 1980's. Marv and his sons Dave and Martin with the help of good friend Ron Perrin built the cabin. They spent a great deal of time there enjoying the mountains, riding four-wheelers, and relaxing. They forged numerous friendships with nearby neighbors. The place was very special to them and will be their final resting place.

A memorial service will be held at St Luke Lutheran Church in Albuquerque on July 18, 2026, at 2pm. The service will also be live-streamed.
