Martha Quintana Hume Faussone passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020.
She was born to Ramon and Libradita Quintana on April 2, 1931 in Pojoaque, NM. Martha was fortunate to be loved by two wonderful men. James T. Hume, the father of her children who passed away in 1977 and Roscoe Faussone whom she married in 1981 and with whom she shared the great joy of grandparenting. Martha leaves behind her husband, Roscoe Faussone; daughter, Peggy Rustin/Sherry; sons, Gordon Hume/Jeannie, Donald and Dennis Hume; three granddaughters; two grandsons; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren; her brothers, Bennie and Jerry Quintana; sister, Katherine Ranck; as well as nieces, nephews, and countless friends who loved her. She was preceded in death by James Hume; and their infant son, David; her beloved grandson, James Rustin; her parents; two brothers; and five sisters. A Remembrance by her granddaughters, Cheryl Rustin Jenkins and Dawn Michelle Hutchison; nieces, Diane Quintana Pierce and Sara Hume; great-granddaughter, Mikayla Hutchison.
Martha was a true matriarch and the roots that held our family together. She was a woman of God, of strong faith, who carried light and love everywhere she went. When talking of the many ailments and challenges she faced, she didn’t question why, she wasn’t angry, she simply said, “I guess this is just my cross to bear.” And bear it she did with grace and love for the Lord, with strength and unwavering faith and with the love and support of her loving husband and family.
Martha loved her family. All of her family. Her family by blood and her family of the heart. The children she cared for, and there were many, became part of her family and part of her heart. She loved fully and she gave love freely. It didn’t matter who you were, where you came from, the color of your skin or the amount of money in your pocket. Martha went out of her way to help everyone: family, neighbor, friend or stranger. Her love knew no bounds. She was tough and stern at times but always a source of love and support. Her beautiful heart was so filled with love, a reflection of the God she served faithfully her entire life. There is no way to adequately quantify the impact of a person like Martha but we are poorer for her loss and wealthier beyond measure for her legacy of love. Rest in paradise now, where your body and mind are whole again and you are no longer in pain; where you are surrounded by loved ones who have gone before you. Although you will be deeply missed by so many, you are far from gone. Your beautiful, loving spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those you touched.
Family will be planning a Memorial Mass for a later date when restrictions have been lifted.
