Marlene Ambrosia Gonzales passed away on Tuesday morning, September 23, 2025, at the age of 94.

She was born on May 14, 1931, in Las Vegas, NM, and from an early age was known for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for family. Marlene lived a long and beautiful life filled with faith, service, and joy.

Marlene is survived by her children: son, Lawrence Gonzales; daughters, Lisa Romo (husband Richard, deceased) and Gina Ikeda. She was a proud grandmother to Nicole and husband, Lance; Lauren and husband, Drew; Madelyn and husband, Brendan, Richard and wife, Kristina. Her legacy continues through her treasured great-grandchildren: Marysol Cahill, Max and Emilia Whatley, and Margaret and Caroline Morrison.

She is survived by her brothers, Kenneth and Thomas Guerin; sisters-in-law, Mary Alice Guerin, Jane Gonzales, and Emily Gonzales; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

Marlene was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 64 years, Gilbert Gonzales; mother, Alice Guerin; brother, Gene Guerin; in-laws, Melba Guerin, Tersila Guerin, Arthur and Mary Ann Gonzales, Max and Victor Gonzales, Victor Sr. and Emilia Gonzales.

Marlene dedicated 15 years of her career to Albuquerque Public Schools, where she was admired for her kindness and steady presence. Beyond her professional life, she was a woman of many passions; she was an avid Canasta and Bridge player, enjoyed preparing delicious meals, especially during holidays and celebrations for her family.

She enjoyed traveling, embarking on cruises, and creating lasting memories with family and friends. Her greatest joy, however, was found in her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother, where her boundless love and gentle spirit shone most brightly.

Marlene will be remembered for her gracious heart, her deep faith, and her ability to make every person feel welcome. She had a quick wit, a warm smile, and approached life with optimism, humor, and resilience. To her family, she was a source of strength and guidance. She was a loyal friend who always had time to listen, laugh, and share in life's moments, both big and small.

A Rosary will be recited on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., both at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix Ave. NE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in Marlene's honor.
