Marjorie "Marge" Gruen

d. November 26, 2020

On Thursday, November 26, 2020, Marjorie (Marge) Gruen, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully at the age of 91 and went to be with her Lord and Savior.

Marjorie was born in Pittsfield, MA on July 7, 1929. Her childhood years were spent growing up on dairy farms in Stockbridge, MA.  Marge enjoyed a long career in banking. She started as a teller at Albuquerque National Bank and retired as a branch operations supervisor at Sunwest Bank. After retiring she and her husband delivered Meals-On-Wheels for 15 years.

She was a longtime member of St John’s United Methodist Church where she was active in the Naomi Woman’s Circle and quilting group. As part of her volunteer work she counted the church collections for many years. She also enjoyed baking pies for the Asbury Cafe at the New Mexico State Fair. She loved to travel, and spent many years touring our great land with her husband and their many friends from the local FMCA group. She was an avid reader, loved a good game of Uno or dominoes, and her nightly games of solitaire. Marge was a devoted loving bride to Harold (Harry) Gruen for 64 years, who preceded her in death, July 25, 2020. During the first third of their marriage Harry was a career Navy man. He spent months at sea, which left Marge to raise their four sons.

She is survived by her four sons and their wives; Mike and Joan of Albuquerque, NM, Mitch and Terrie of Edgewood, NM, Mark and Barbara of Albuquerque, NM and Harry and Kimberly of Crosby, TX; 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; a brother and sister; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 24, 2021, 8:00 a.m. at  FRENCH - Lomas.  Interment will follow at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM.
