Listen to Obituary

Marjorie Louise Geisenhener was born on April 4, 1929, on a snowy night in Colby, Kansas. She was the second of four daughters born to Guy and Irma Geisenhener. She grew up on a wheat farm in northwest Kansas during the Great Depression and Dust Bowl. Her main chore was milking cows, which made her incredibly strong. She loved to challenge her daughters to arm wrestle-and never lost.

She and her sisters spent their childhood riding horses, playing in creeks, and enjoying time with nearby family. Marjorie lost her mother at age 12, a hardship that shaped her strength and independence. During high school, she and her sisters would "batch," living together or with friends in a home closer to school in Oberlin, Kansas.

After graduating, Marjorie earned her teaching certificate and taught grades one through eight in a one-room schoolhouse. Adventurous at heart, she took road trips across the United States and even traveled to Panama one summer.

Her journey brought her to Albuquerque in 1952 to continue her education, where she met the love of her life, Wayne Rorie. They were married within four months and shared 73 wonderful years together. They were blessed with five daughters, and Marjorie devoted herself to raising her family-sewing clothes, preparing meals, keeping a warm home, and helping with homework.

Marjorie was known for her Christ-like spirit, quick wit, and joyful sense of humor. Her daughters fondly remember how her giggling fits would spread until everyone around her was laughing. She truly lit up every room she entered.

She found joy in simple pleasures, especially birdwatching and feeding hummingbirds. She had a special gift for growing orchids, earning the nickname "The Orchid Whisperer." She also kept up with technology, using her phone and Facebook with impressive ease.

Her faith in God was the foundation of her life. She shared it openly and faithfully served her church, teaching third grade at Netherwood Park Church of Christ for nearly 30 years.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Irma Geisenhener, and her sisters, Eula Junemann, Cleta Riepl, and Glenda Blair.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Wayne; her daughters, Rhonda (Ed) McMullen, Kathy Rorie, Shirley (Greg) Broom, Deanna (Craig) Mathews, and Darla Rorie; her grandchildren, Paul (Julie) McMullen, Eric (Hannah) McMullen, Matt (Elizabeth) McMullen, Christopher (Emily-Anne) Davis, Ashley (Jason) Martinez, Shane (Melody) Davis, David (Krista) Broom, Kelcie Fox, Drew (Soraya) Sharp, Danny (Becca) Sharp, and Jesse (McKenna) Montano; as well as 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Marjorie left this earth on April 14, 2026, at the age of 97. Though our hearts ache in her absence, we find comfort knowing she is at peace, embraced in God's eternal love.
