Mario Santiago Garay

Mario Santiago Garay was called to the Lord on Friday, July 3, 2020, preceded in death by his grandparents, Cruz and Cuca Garay, and Gene and Anna Hendricks. He is survived by his parents, Mario Garay (Carolina) and Wanda Hendricks (Phil); his siblings, Matthew (Jenessa), Jonathan, Jordan Garay, and Christen (Arron) Elwess; his loving Tia’s, Maria Tita, Juanita, and Leticia; his fiancé, Reina Martinez and sons, Esteban and Santino; as well as many loved family and friends.

Mario was a very special person and was loved by everyone that was blessed to have met him. He maintained extended friendships through his many years of employment with T-Mobile and education at Rio Grande High school, where he played football and participated in many extracurricular activities. So many individuals have expressed their condolences and shared their stories about how he healed their hearts with his compassion.

Mario was known for his hugs, kind heart, laughter, and love for others. Mario understood that his purpose on this earth was to help those in need. He had a unique gift, in that he instinctively knew when his family and friends were in need, and he never missed an opportunity to respond with love and support. He was a selfless man. He prayed to the Lord and expressed gratitude for each and every day. He found blessings where most people could not. Mario loved his family endlessly and extended that love to so many friends. He had a passion for singing and music, and shared his beautiful voice with others through song. Mario loved and was loved by so many. His absence is felt by many and his memory will live through his ability to touch people’s hearts and his healing undying love. He will be so missed by all.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Wyoming.

A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, July 9, 2020, 9:30 a.m., at San Jose Parrish, 2401 Broadway Blvd. SE, and Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.

A Graveside Service will follow the Mass at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
