Marie T. Wright, born January 1943, in Bronwood, Georgia, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, May 28, 2026, in the presence of the love of her life, Isaac L. Wright, with whom she was married for 64 wonderful years. Marie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, and cherished friend whose kindness, strength, and warmth touched all who knew her.
Isaac and Marie's marriage was hallmarked by their endearing love, respect, and partnership. As Isaac Wright served honorably in the U.S. Air Force for over 20 years, Marie was a dedicated partner accompanying him to Eglin Air Force Base in the Florida Panhandle, Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana, McCoy Air Force Base in Orlando Florida, Niagra Falls Air Reserve Station in New York, Pentagon, Washington D.C., RAF Mildenhall, UK, finally being stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Meico in 1978, where the settled down and continued to raise their family.
Marie was a highly sought after and recommended pre-school teacher for over 50 years, earning her Child Development Associate certification in 1991. She often received awards for being a caring and gifted teacher including public accolades from senior military officials. She retired from Kirkland Child Development Center in 2014. After retirment she continued to be a resource to local families and their children in her neighborhood.
In addition to being a passionate teacher, Marie raised two successful children, Terrence and Crystal, both graduates of University of New Mexico. Terrence wen on to receive his Master of Business Administration and lives in Tampa, Florida with his wife, Natasha, and two children and Crystal,, earned her J.D and practices law in Los Angeles, California where she lives with her husband, Delroy and son. Marie is survived by her husband, Isaac, her two children and three grandchildren, Teri (30) Jacob (23) and Ephraim (20). Marie was the daughter of Arthur Toby (a farmer and railroad man), Allen Parish (her loving stepfather also a railroad man) and Lizzie Mae Parish (a visiting nurse), and one of six children: sisters Alice T. West, Bernice T. James (dec.), Doretha T. Bodison (dec.), Earlene T. Lockett, and brother (Ret.) M. Gyn. Sgt. U.S. Marine Corp. Oscar W. Toby (dec.) Marie was a caring presence to numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Regina Davis, Chester Grant, Pamela West Goode, Reginal Haynes, (dec.) Stephanie Jame, Anna Maria Matthews, Liz Haynes McKenzie, Angie Stackhouse, Robert West, and Thomas West. Marie was a prod graduate of New Stanton Senior High School in Jacksonville, Florida and attended Edward Waters College in Jacksonville on a music scholarship. Isaac also graduated from New Stanton Senior High School at attended Edward Waters College on a footbalscholarshiphip before joining the Air Force. Marie and Isaac also attending middle school together. Outside of her career, Marie enjoyed the simple pleasures the brought her joy. She loved fishing, gardening, watching her favorite television crime dramas, traveling, country and Motown music, collecting elephants, fashion and spending time with family.
Marie wil be remembered for her compassion, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will continue to live on through all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Viewing and Reception will be held on June 10, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at FRENCH- Lomas. A Graveside service will be held at 2:45 on June 11, 2026 at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe St. Santa Fe NM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that acts of kindness be made in the form of donations to the Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation in her name.
