Marie Catherine Cassisa
July 25, 1943 — July 11, 2017
Marie Cassisa, 73, died July 11, 2017 in Albuquerque, New Mexico after a lifelong battle with heart disease. Marie was born in New York City in 1943, to Harold and Nellie Christman. One of four siblings, she was diagnosed with heart disease at an early age and was not expected to live past the age of 30.
Marie married Frank Cassisa in 1965. Together, they raised one son. The family eventually settled in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where Marie spent most of her life. She retired from the University of New Mexico Hospital’s Department of Orthopedics in 2001, after 18 years as an administrative assistant. She enjoyed drawing, painting and coloring as well as spending time with her grandchildren.
Marie is survived by her husband; her son, Michael, and her two loving granddaughters, Laurel and Sophia.
A visitation will be held Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 1:00 p.m., followed by a Prayer Service at 2:00 p.m. at FRENCH – Westside.
