Maria Elena "Mary Ellen" Sena Lujan who would have been 89 on February 22, died peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Monday December 7, 2020.
She was born in 1932 in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Jose Adolfo and Dolores (Fulgenzi) Sena. She married Richard M. Lujan July 16, 1948. They moved to Albuquerque in 1952. Mary Ellen was active for many years in youth programs, including Little League Baseball, Junior Tennis League, girls Bluebirds, school libraries and PTA. She was the President of Campfire Leaders Association and was employed by Sears for eight years. As a young lady she was a princess in the 4th of July Fiesta in Las Vegas, New Mexico. As a teenager during World War II she made parachutes.
Mary Ellen is survived by her loving husband, Richard who she was married to for 72 years; her brother and sister, Katherine (John) Martinez and Albert (Shelley) Sena from California; her daughter, Gayle D. (Charles) Schaefer of Florida; son, Richard H. Lujan (Adrienne Brewer) of Colorado; daughter, Karen L. Jerde (Kevin) of Colorado. She has six grandchildren, Suzanne Powell, Chaz Schaefer (Sara) of Florida, Cody (Bree Cole) Lujan, Angela Lujan (Dave Espinosa), Katherine Jerde, Kevin (Amber) Jerde all of Colorado; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Dolores Sena; and her brother, Sonny Sena.
