Maria “Eugenia” Fowler passed away Tuesday August 12th 2025, surrounded by her loving husband Bobby of 41 years, and some of her 10 siblings.
Eugenia was born October 27, 1950, in McAllen, Texas, to Margarito and Ofelia Bravo.
She was raised and lived in Layton, Utah, for most of her life, graduating from Davis High School.
She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the California State University, San Bernardino, working in Civil Service for 35+ years prior to her retirement.
Eugenia extensively traveled with her husband, especially the National Parks, visiting 47 of the 63 Parks. Some of her most memorable hikes included topping out Mt Whitney 3 times, Grand Canyon multiple times, Havasu Falls, Angels Landing in Zions NP, and half dome in Yosemite NP. She also enjoyed being with Bobby as he pursued his love of skiing and ski patrol! Although she was an avid skier, she did not possess the same intensity of the love of skiing as Bobby! In her younger years she loved playing tennis, and when she was a “candy striper” at St. Benedicts Hospital in Utah, she enjoyed running with Fr. Cummins, the hospital Chaplain.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces, brothers and sisters.
She also enjoyed crafting, jewelry making, and helping those in need, and was very active in and with her faith community of The Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
She was known for her canned peaches, and peach jam, that she enjoyed sharing with many of her neighbors, family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by Mother (Ofelia), Father (Margarito), and brother (Roberto).
She is survived by her husband, Bobby; and brothers, Salvador (Julie) Bravo, Joel Bravo, Israel Bravo; and sisters, Blanca Sloan (Richard), Veronica Martinez, Carolina Bravo (Abe Martinez), Sandra Funtanilla (Frank), Laura Bravo (Bryant Farmer), Kathy Bravo; and MANY nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her stepson, Michael Fowler (Crystal); grandchildren, Mercedez Carter (Kyle), Cody Fowler (Sarah Poole); and three great-grandchildren, Brooke, Connor, and Sydney. Stepdaughter, Lisa Rogers (Adam), grandchildren Kai and Sarah.
