Margie Sue Gibson, age 80, was born on July 10, 1945, in Trinidad, Colorado, and was peacefully called home to be with the Lord on December 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in Edgewood, New Mexico.
Margie lived the majority of her life in Los Lunas, New Mexico, a place she dearly loved and proudly called home. In her early years, she also spent several years living in Eagle Nest New Mexico. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, teacher, and friend, whose life was defined by faith, love, and service to others. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Wesley Smith; her mother, Charlotte Mae Smith; and her sister, Patsy Willson. Margie is survived by her beloved brothers, Clifton Smith and Clinton Smith; and her three cherished children: Marty Ray Gibson and wife Kelly of Edgewood, New Mexico; Monty Ray Gibson and wife Tanya of Junction City, Kansas; Donny Ray Gibson and wife Heidi of Los Lunas, New Mexico. She was a devoted and loving grandmother to nine grandchildren and a joyful great-grandmother to ten great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Margie served faithfully as a kindergarten teacher at Western Heights Assembly of God, where she was also a devoted member of the church. She was a godly woman who boldly professed her love for God and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her faith was not only spoken, but lived out daily through prayer, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family. One of her greatest joys was praying with her grandchildren and teaching them to trust in God's love and grace.
In her quiet moments, Margie found joy and peace in painting, embroidery, scrapbooking, and creating beautiful floral arrangements gifts she often shared with those she loved. Her creativity, gentle spirit, and nurturing heart touched everyone who knew her. Margie was the heart of her family a source of wisdom, comfort, prayer, and unconditional love. She will be deeply and dearly missed, as she was a central and irreplaceable part of all our lives. Though our hearts mourn her loss, we rejoice in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of the Savior she loved and served so faithfully.
Services will be held on January 5th at 10:00 a.m. at French Funerals, located at 1111 University Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Margie will be laid to rest at Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale Blvd. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106.
