Margaret "Margo" Lujan Nicholson, 102, was called to her eternal resting place on June 26, 2025. Born on June 16, 1923, in Springer, New Mexico to Vincente and Guillerma Lujan.
Margo was raised in La Cañada del Caro in the Mora Valley. She is preceded in death by her parents and her five siblings, Fred, Claudio, Guillermo, Abigail, and Ida; and her husband, Clinton S. Nicholson.
Margo dedicated her life to service, both in the military and in her community. Margo proudly served in the US Navy's W.A.V.E.S branch from May 1945 to August 1946. Although her service during WWII was brief her commitment to her country and veterans was unwavering.
Margo and her husband settled in Hawaii, where Margo received her cosmetology license. After the completion of their military service, they moved to the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Margo was a small business owner operating a hair salon in Bryn Mawr, PA until their retirement in 1985. During retirement Margo became active in the Lutheran church. She continued her interest in health and nutrition and participated in yoga, tai chi, and bowling.
In 2000, Margo and her husband moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico to be closer to family. She continued her church activities at St. Paul Lutheran Church and was an active participant in WELCA and the Stephan Ministry.
Margo is survived by her daughters, Colby Stuart (Sierd) and Cynthia Nicholson; her grandson, Joshua Chandler (Darla); and great-grandson, Dante Chandler.
Military honors will be rendered at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Monday, August 11, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 12th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1100 Indian School Drive NE, Albuquerque, NM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Road Runner Foodbank or St Paul Lutheran Church.
