Margaret Jane Guess, age 83, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, went home to her Lord and Savior, on Monday, December 1, 2025. She is survived by her husband, Tommy; son Tommy Ray Guess and wife, Tori, of Colorado (Tray Guess and Tegan [Rob] Kranz); son Keith Guess and wife, Susan, of Iowa (Barlow, Gannon, Lawson, Carston, Bryan, and Marco Guess); daughter-in-law Edie Taylor of Tennessee (Aubrey [David] Rogdriguez, Cayley [Adam] Overstreet, and Brent Guess); daughter Suzanne Bowles and husband, Nathan, of Washington (Maisie [Tyler] Fishback, Libby, Banyan, Sadey, Tobin, Kelbie, and Posey Bowles); three great-grandchildren Robin, Aiden Rodriguez and Briar Fishback; and two sisters, Carol Parker and Sharon Robbins. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Velma Dobbs and Viva Brown; one brother, Myrl Dobbs; and son, Brent Guess.
Margaret was born in Stilwell, Oklahoma, to Ganum and Hazel Dobbs. She was raised by her grandparents, William and Eliza Cole, until she began school and moved back home. Grandpa Cole nicknamed her "Muggins," a name that was very special to her. It was with great pride and joy that all of her grandchildren know her and call her by that name. After graduating from Stilwell High School in 1960, she attended Northeastern State College in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She married Tommy Guess on August 24, 1963, and they moved to Albuquerque in 1964. She taught ninth-grade English for two years before redirecting her attention to the raising of her children, leading years of ladies' Bible studies, and serving in her church. She loved her family fiercely and prayed fervently for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Margaret was an avid and experienced oil painter. She also enjoyed a good cup of coffee and early-morning walks around the neighborhood golf course.
A private graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque.
