Marcus Bailey

August 9, 1976 — August 21, 2025

Marcus D. Bailey passed away on the morning of August 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He had recently been diagnosed with a large brain tumor. He was 49.

He was born in Rockledge, Florida on August 9, 1976 to James Nolan Bailey and Maryjean Moore Bailey. He is survived by his parents, his brother, Quinn Bailey, and his snuggly cat, Crookshanks, whom he often called his emotional support cat.

An Albuquerque resident since 1978, Marcus was a 1994 graduate of Eldorado High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from ITT Technical Institute and subsequently earned bachelor's degrees in economics and accounting from the University of New Mexico. He was employed by Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

A thoughtful and loving son, Marcus enjoyed baking. His specialty was a delicious rum cake, often baked for his family members' birthdays.

Each year he put up outdoor Christmas light display. (So the other people can enjoy them, too, he told his family.)

He was a martial arts enthusiast and enjoyed riding his bicycle for long distances.

We will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Marcus's life will be held at the First Unitarian Church of Albuquerque at 3700 Carlisle Blvd, NE on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Marcus's memory to High Desert Cat Rescue and Adoption.
