Marcia Larson

Marcia Larson, age 72, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away April 3, 2025, due to complications of diabetes. We are grateful for the 30 recent years together with Marcia due to the donated kidney she received from an organ donor. Marcia was born in Akron, Ohio on July 14, 1952, to Walter and Gladys Lehman where she grew up and graduated high school. The family moved to Albuquerque in 1971, and she joined them at the end of that year of college, completing her bachelor's and master's degrees in education at the University of New Mexico.

Marcia positively impacted countless numbers of children through her career teaching elementary school, first at Cochiti Pueblo and then for over 30 years at the Albuquerque Public Schools.

Marcia was an active member of Monte Vista Christian Church since 1971 participating in the Bell Choir, serving as a Deacon and in various leadership roles, volunteering in the office following her retirement, making quilts for charity with the Fabric and Fiber group, amongst many other ways she contributed. Through Monte Vista Christian Church she was able to continue the work with young children she so enjoyed as a volunteer with "Kids Night In", vacation bible school, Christmas pageants, and similar events.

Marcia met her husband, Bill, square dancing with the "Swinging Singles". They married in 1984 and celebrated their 39th anniversary in January of 2023. They were both overjoyed to become a family of three with the addition of baby Phillip in 1991. Marcia was a devoted caretaker for Bill following a stroke in 2012 until his death in 2023.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Gladys Lehman and her husband, Bill. She is survived by her son, Phillip; brother, Walter Lehman Jr., his wife, Jennifer, and their adult children, Blair Sallee (Mica) and Angela Corona (Raul); sister-in-law, Lori Rariden, her husband Bob, and their adult children, Bobby, Maddie, John, and Michael, and many great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Monte Vista Christian Church at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to Monte Vista Christian Church, 3501 Campus Blvd., N.E., Albuquerque NM 87106.
