Marc Foman

Marc Foman, born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1948, passed away in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on July 2, 2026, after a long illness.

Marc was born to Leonard Forman and Pauline (Klein) Foman. He developed an interest in music at a young age and began playing guitar as a teenager, a passion that remained with him throughout his life.

Marc graduated magna cum laude from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a B.A. in English Literature. While at UMass, he was selected for an honors program that allowed him to spend a summer studying at Oxford University in England. His time at Oxford was a wonderful and lasting influence on his life, reflecting his lifelong love of learning, literature, and philosophy.

Shortly after graduating, Marc moved to Albuquerque, where he made his home. His love of music led him and his then-wife, Linda Volz, with whom he shared 30 years of marriage, to co-found Marc's Guitar Center. For 30 years, Marc dedicated himself to the studio, sharing his passion for music and teaching guitar to hundreds of students. He was both a teacher and mentor to many and left a lasting impression on those he taught.

Marc was also an avid reader, particularly enjoying philosophy. His curiosity, intellect, love of music, and lifelong commitment to learning were defining parts of who he was.

March was predeceased by his parents, Leonard Foman and Pauline (Klein) Foman. He is survived by his sister, Arlene Row (Walter); his niece, Kimberly Kuebler (Daniel); great-niece, Sienna Kuebler; and great-nephews, Liam and Noah Kuebler, all of Freiburg, Germany; and his nephew, Gregory Row (Devon Hunt) of Swampscott, Massachusetts.

Marc will be remembered with love by his family, friends, students, and all those whose lives he touched through music, teaching, and love of learning.
