Manuel Carrillo Escobedo, de 90 años, falleció pacíficamente el 22 de junio de 2024 en su casa de Albuquerque, Nuevo México. Le sobreviven su esposa de 70 años, Carmen (Aguilar), y sus hijos: Antonio, Juan, Filiberto, Héctor, José Alfredo, Octavio y sus hijas Rosario, Guadalupe, Carmen, Clara, Petra, María Elena y Maritza. ; También le sobreviven cuarenta y cuatro nietos y muchos otros familiares y amigos que lo amaban y admiraban por sus buenos consejos.
Manuel nació en Fresnillo, Zacatecas, México, hijo de Dámaso Carrillo y Rosario Escobedo. Cuando sus padres se mudaron al occidental estado de Nayarit, lo dejaron al cuidado de su abuela materna, Graciana. A medida que crecío, Manuel quedó bajo el cuidado de Don Catalino Arellano, quien lo guió y ayudo a ser una persona adulta responsable.
Manuel asistió a la escuela hasta el tercer grado de primaria, esas eran las oportunidades educativas disponibles en el México rural en ese momento. A los dieciocho años se casó con Carmen, con quien tuvo trece hijos. El era el carnicero del pueblo, el cocinaba los mejores chicharrones y hacia la mejor birria.
Le apasionaba el canto, fue así como capturó el corazón de Carmen cuando se conocieron y la conquisto. Su voz se parecía a la de cantantes populares de su época tales como Pedro Infante y Jorge Negrete. Le gustaba jugar a las cartas y al billar, hizo amigos a lo largo de las aventuras de su vida. Durante los años 90s, emigró a los Estados Unidos, donde pudo traer a su familia para brindarles una vida mejor. Al final de cada conversación, su dicho siempre era "que Dios te bendiga y te proteja". Extrañaremos profundamente a Don Manuel.
Manuel Carrillo Escobedo, aged 90, peacefully passed away on June 22, 2024, at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Carmen (Aguilar), and their children: sons Antonio, Juan, Filiberto, Hector, Jose Alfredo, Octavio, and daughters Rosario, Guadalupe, Carmen, Clara, Petra, Maria Elena, and Maritza; He is also survived by forty-four grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends who loved him and looked up to him for guidance.
Manuel was born in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico, the son of Damaso Carrillo and Rosario Escobedo. When his parents moved to the western state of Nayarit, they entrusted him to the care of his maternal grandmother, Graciana. As he grew older, Manuel was taken under the wing of Don Catalino Arellano, who guided him toward responsible adulthood.
Manuel attended school until the seventh grade, which was the extent of educational opportunities available in rural Mexico at the time. At eighteen, he married Carmen, with whom he had thirteen children. He was the butcher of his hometown; he could make the best chicharrones and birria.
He had a passion for singing, which is how he captured Carmen's heart when they first met. His voice resembled those of popular singers of his time, such as Pedro Infante and Jorge Negrete. He enjoyed playing cards and pool, he made friends throughout his life's adventures. Eventually, he migrated to the United States, where he was able to bring his family and provide them with a better life. At the end of every conversation, his saying was always "may God bless and protect you." Don Manuel will be deeply missed.
