Mabel Graves

September 1, 1926 — July 30, 2025

Mabel Nunn Graves 98, a long-time resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away on July 30, 2025. Mabel was born on September 1, 1926, on the family ranch near Lake Valley, New Mexico to Edward and Frances (Ringer) Nunn.

She graduated from Deming High School and then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of New Mexico. After graduation, Mabel worked for the Albuquerque Public Schools teaching fourth grade at Lava land Elementary and then later Collet Park Elementary. After teaching for 30 years and raising a family, she retired. With the help and patience of her husband, OC, she took up the game of golf. They spent many years traveling the United States and Europe seeing the sights and playing golf. Mabel also enjoyed being at home sewing, watching her favorite game shows and painting. She was a talented artist who created wonderful paintings from her memories traveling and growing up on the Flying Y Ranch.

She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Oard "OC" Graves, son Charles and wife Cynthia Graves of Albuquerque, daughter Marie and husband Mark Lewis of Grants, granddaughter Erin and husband Joseph Castillo, and grandson Erik Lewis all of Albuquerque.

Mabel was preceded in death by her brothers, Edward "Smokey" Nunn, Harvey Nunn, Doyle Nunn and sister Eleanor Wimberley.

Mabel's life was celebrated privately by her immediate family, as her final wishes were not to have a formal service.
