Lydia Mae Cordova (83), a dedicated wife of 60 years; loving mother; and family rock, passed away Tuesday April 14, 2026. She was born to Estanislado and Angelina Pino and was raised in Albuquerque, NM. Lydia was a graduate of Albuquerque High School (class of 1961) and was a life-long learner. Passionate about education, she pursued a fulfilling career as a teacher's assistant for Albuquerque Public Schools with students in ESL and Special Education classes. She dedicated herself to helping her students succeed and encouraging her fellow teachers. Her positive attitude and love for people made almost everyone love and appreciate her giving spirit.
In her personal time, Lydia enjoyed reading, traveling, watching movies, and spending time with friends and family. She particularly treasured taking trips with her husband to Las Vegas and visiting her children across the US. Lydia was a warm and loving person that cared deeply for her family and close friends. She is survived by her husband (Tom O Cordova), children (Tom A Cordova, Chris Cordova, and Amanda Montoya), 9 grandchildren (Nichole Cordova, Ellen Larson, Blythe Cordova, Gabriel Montoya, Blaine Cordova, Jacob Montoya, Bryce Cordova, Nichole Montoya, and Kaleigh Cordova), 4 great-grandchildren, brother (Eliseo "Chamba" Pino), brother-in-law (Albert Cordova), and sister-in-law (Betty Smith).
A memorial service will be held Friday April 24, 2026, at 1:00 PM at French-Lomas to celebrate Lydia's life.
