(Dulcinea Maria Molina Angel)
Dulcinea Maria Molina (Lucy), daughter of Avaristo Molina and Paublita Marquez was born and raised on an isolated ranch in Norton, New Mexico. By age three, Lucy had lost both parents. Her father died two months before she was born, and her mother died in childbirth along with her newborn twin daughters. Lucy's grandfather, Benseslaos Marquez, cared for Lucy and his 6 children. At the age of fourteen, Lucy and her grandfather moved to Tucumcari where she obtained her high school degree.
Lucy married Bernardo J. Angel on April 3, 1948, with whom she had five children. As a stay-at-home mom, she was supportive of her children's activities. Lucy was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church and was involved in a bible study group with friends. Lucy was an excellent cook, thanks to the teachings of her mother-in-law and her experimentation with cookbooks.
Bernie and Lucy were surrounded by loving friends who enjoyed each other's company. They were great dancers. Lucy danced as long as she was able and thereafter, tapped her toes, swayed her shoulders and bobbed her head in rhythm to the music.
Lucy was a role model to many young people and showed courage throughout the many chapters of her life. After her family had grown, she took college classes and learned skills that qualified her to work in heath care. At age 50, she got her first job at Lovelace Hospital in Albuquerque as a medical transcriptionist and receptionist. Her favorite job was a part-time bartender at Silva's Saloon in Bernalillo. Her social skills, love of talking to people and genuine interest increased the clientele with her Norton stories, kindness and quick smile.
Lucy was loved and respected by the family and many, many friends. She will live in their hearts for generations to come.
Lucy is survived by her four daughters, Linda González (Isidro), Deborah Angel, Connie Aldaz (Salvador), Helen Fitzgerald, 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her infant sisters, Erlinda and Lucinda, husband, Bernard Angel, son, Morris Angel, daughter-in-law, Nadine Beck Angel, and son-in-law, Carl Fitzgerald.
Services for Lucy Angel will be on Monday, May 11, 2026, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd, Albuquerque, NM. Rosary will begin at 9:30 am followed by mass at 10:15 am. Reception will follow afterward in parish hall.
Her ashes will be interred in Tucumcari at a later date.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, The American Heart Association or the Alzheimer's Association.
