Cordelia Lucille Rodriguez (Lucy) was born on December 30, 1945, in San Luis, Colorado to Fermin and Beatrice Vigil.
She was called to heaven to rest in God's embrace in Albuquerque, New Mexico on December 26, 2025.
She is preceded in death by her husband George, son Robert, sisters and brother: Bertha (Levi) Roybal, Sister Helen, M.S., Inez (John) Serrano, and Alfonso (Elva) Vigil.
She is survived by her son George (Lorena), grandchildren: Alex (Mikaela), Mercedes, Belicia, Itzel, two great grandchildren: Graysen, Bowden, sisters and brothers: Mary (Tom) Rodriguez, Rita (Moises) Lobato, Helen (Leroy) Vigil, Arnold Vigil, Modesto (Neomi) Vigil, and many relatives and friends.
Growing up, Lucille was a fun-loving child who held a tight bond with her siblings and parents. After graduation from Centennial High School, she was united in marriage to her one and only true love. Together they moved to Colorado Springs where she had a fruitful career, raised her beloved sons whom she was so proud of, and devoted her life to Catholic faith. Kindness for others was a character trait that shone through her daily life. She had a generous heart and was known for her rare gift of making everyone feel welcome and valued with her comforting words, beautiful smile, helping hand, and powerful prayers.
She had a great sense of humor, loved to cook, enjoyed planting flowers and took great pride in caring for her home and tending to her own yard work.
Some of her hobbies included volunteer work, traveling, sewing, crocheting special blankets for every new baby in the family, and making handmade rosaries and creative cards that became treasured holiday and birthday traditions. She was a passionate Broncos fan who never missed a chance to cheer them on.
Lucille's caring spirit and compassion reflected her deep love for God, family, and friends. She touched many lives during her lifetime and was cherished by all.
Lucille will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her legacy of love, faith, and kindness will live on and remain in our hearts as we take comfort in knowing she is at peace, reunited with her husband, son, sisters and brother in Heaven.
A rosary will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2025, at 10:30 am in the Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church, in San Luis, Colorado. Mass will follow the rosary at 11:00 am and interment will be held at the Sangre De Cristo Cemetery, in San Luis, Colorado. A reception will be held at the San Luis Senior Center following interment. Pallbearers will be Alex Galindo, Don Rupe, Scott Hidalgo, Alan Arellano, Tommy Rodriguez, and Arnold Vigil. The arrangements have been entrusted to French Funerals in Albuquerque and Romero Funeral Home in Alamosa.
