Louisa Lucero passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, at the family home surrounded by her family. Louisa was born in Canon de Jemez and was preceded in death by her parents, Lucia and Agapito Garcia; and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Pedro Lucero; her children, Ted (wife-Kathy), Clara Lopez (husband-Dionicio); and five grandchildren, Amaris Lucero, Natalia Kerness (husband-Jared), Dionicio Lopez (wife-Danielle), Atanacio Lopez, and Matthew Lucero (partner-Maya Densmore). Louisa has five great-grandchildren, Elias Kerness, Jaylee Lopez, Catalina Kerness, Dionicio Lopez, and Ciena Kerness. She is also survived by one brother, George Garcia; one sister, Tina Garcia; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Church, 619 Copper Ave. NW. There will be a viewing at the church at 8:00 a.m., Rosary at 8:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd. NE. Pallbearers will be Amaris Lucero, Natalia Kerness, D.J. Lopez, A.J. Lopez, Matthew Lucero, and Jared Kerness. Honorary pallbearers will be Elias Kerness, Jaylee Lopez, Catalina Kerness, Dionicio Lopez, and Ciena Kerness. A reception will follow at Prestige Event Center, 2019 5th St. NW, all are welcome to attend.
Louisa will be forever loved and missed by all the surviving members of the Lucero, Lopez, and Garcia families. She will long be remembered for her cooking and baking, especially her little angel biscochitos.
