Louis Smith Brooks

Louis Smith Brooks, age 51, passed away on January 6, 2026, in Hobbs, New Mexico.

Louis was born on April 4, 1974, in Port Sulphur, Louisiana. He spent most of his life in Venice, where he worked in the oil field. Louis enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and he had a deep love for music and shopping. Once you met him, he left an impression you could never forget.

Louis is survived by his three children, Justyn, Cameron, and Brody Brooks (Alexis); as well as his former spouse, Michelle Brooks, with whom he shared his children. He was a proud grandfather to Evelyn, Maelyn, and RozaLee. He is also survived by his father, Mark Brooks (Karen); his grandmother, Ida Brooks; and his brother, Mark "Bubba" Brooks.

Louis is further survived by Travis Kelley, Shannon, and Lawrence Siska, who were very important people in his life and held a special place in his heart.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Albon Roy Brooks; his mother, Nadine Bennett; and his great-grandmother, Leonie Barrios Smith.

Louis will be remembered for his love of family and the lasting impact he had on the lives of those who knew him. His memory will live on through all who carry him in their hearts.
