Lorraine Duran Burns died Saturday May 23, 2015 with her large family of loved ones by her side. Lorraine was born March 22, 1930 in Penasco, New Mexico to Dionicio and Bersabe (Ortiz) Duran. Lorraine graduated from Penasco High School in 1948 and then worked for two years as Secretary to the Penasco High School Superintendent, the late Mr. Alfredo Romero. She then attended two years of Business College in Albuquerque after which she enlisted in the US Air Force where she worked at the Pentagon for four years during the Korean War. After her four-year tour of duty she moved to Los Angeles, California where, for thirty years, she was Administrative Assistant to the late Mr. Robert Williams, First Interstate Bank Legal Counsel (now Wells Fargo Bank). Lorraine and her husband moved to the North Valley in Albuquerque twenty-five years ago. They are members at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Lorraine was the best. She was a classy lady, was always a generous and loving person, even as she struggled bravely with the painful effects of Parkinson's disease. Lorraine is now flying higher and higher. Lorraine was a good soldier of God, Family and Country. Gramma Rain, Aunt Lorraine, La Loreh will be missed but loved forever here and in the hereafter. Lorraine is our hero. Lorraine is survived by her caring and loving husband, James Burns; her three step-daughters, Kim Burns, Karen Hernandez (John), Karla Dillenberg (Brett); and six grandchildren. Lorraine is also survived by six loving siblings: Delia Garcia, Billy Duran (Dora), Frank Duran (Anna Marie), Clarence Duran (Carol), Luisa Duran (Dave), and Dolores Klingbeil; and by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Onesimo Duran (Elsie) and Alberto Duran (Marge); her favorite Tia Lina and Tio Luz Lopez and many other good aunts and uncles; Delia's late husband Daniel Garcia; Clarence and Carol's son Michael Duran; and her niece Bernadette's husband Charles Pacheco. The family will receive and greet friends from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at FRENCH-Wyoming followed by a Rosary service beginning at 5:00 p.m. also at FRENCH - Wyoming. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 1, 2015 at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, .
