Lorenzo Lucas Montoya, born October 18, 1940, in El Paso, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on April 9, 2026, at the age of 85, surrounded by his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose greatest joy in life was his family. He was deeply loved in return, and his presence will be missed more than words can express.
Lorenzo had a special way of bringing people together. He enjoyed making jewelry, loved music, fishing, cooking and was a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan. He was always willing to help others, share a recipe, or make a rosary for a friend. He had a kind heart that touched many lives. Time with family and friends meant everything to him, especially Christmas Eve.
Lorenzo was a proud Vietnam Veteran who served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1969. His family is incredibly proud of his service and the sacrifice he made for his country. He carried that experience with quiet pride, and it was something he shared with fellow veterans and those he met along the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Odelia and Fernandez Montoya.
Lorenzo is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Rosalie Montoya; his daughters, Delia Montoya and Cynthia and her husband, Terry New; his grandchildren, Emily and her husband, Daniel, and their daughter Autumn; Allison and her partner, Richard; and Joseph and his daughter, Daileene. He is also survived by his sister, Arleen Herrera and her husband, Chris; and several cousins and extended family. Each of them will carry his love and memory with them always.
Lorenzo will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him and his love will live on in the hearts of his family forever.
May he rest in peace in the arms of our Lord and Savior.
