Lois Loveda West (nee Ratliff) passed away peacefully at home in Albuquerque on March 1, 2025. She was 92 years old. Second of six children born to Thelma Mae and Orville Bee Ratliff, Lois was born on July 4 at the family farm in Caddo County, Oklahoma. Upon her graduation from high school, she attended Draughon's Business College in Oklahoma City, and began a career as an executive secretary, eventually retiring from the Baptist Foundation of Oklahoma. Lois was married to Clyde W. West, Jr., for 49 years until his passing in 2001. Together they had one daughter, Ruth West Starr. Lois lived in Oklahoma City, OK until 1999 when Lois and Clyde moved to Albuquerque, NM to be closer to their daughter.
Lois loved sewing and quilting, making items for the family as well as for various charitable organizations over the years. She was a gardener too, especially enjoyed having lots of flowers in beds and pots all around the house. She was active in her church and always took time to visit friends and neighbors who were sick or in need, often bringing food, and with her beautiful smile and words of comfort.
Lois is survived by her daughter, Ruth in Albuquerque; and her brothers, Ralph and Eugene Ratliff in Oklahoma; as well as many nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank Bosque Trails Hospice for their compassionate and professional care during her final days.
Memorial service will be Wednesday, March 12, 2025, 2:00 p.m., at FRENCH - University, with a private burial at Alfalfa Cemetery in Oklahoma at a later date.
