Lois Jean Barkley, later known as Lois Jean DeCourtney and Lois Jean Plondke, was born on March 26, 1927, in Derry, Pennsylvania. Throughout her life she was devoted to caring for her family and supporting those around her. She was a talented painting artist who worked in watercolors, oils, and acrylics, and she loved to travel and explore new places.

Lois was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church and spent her career at GTE, later Verizon, where she served as Secretary and then Traffic Manager. She lived in Derry, Pennsylvania; Kenmore, New York; Elmhurst, Illinois; and Albuquerque, New Mexico.

She is survived by her daughters, Gale Jacob and Jan DeCourtney; her grandchildren Donna, Rob, and Russ; and her great-grandchildren Velsen, Lorraine, and Tommy. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeff DeCourtney, and by her parents, Harvey and Verner Barkley. She was preceded in death by Richard Everett DeCourtney and later by George Plondke.

Her family will remember her dedication, her creativity, and the care she gave throughout her life.
