With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Lloyd William Hoover, a devoted husband, father, and esteemed minister, who left this world on July 7, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on May 27, 1938, in Fremont, Nebraska, Lloyd led a life characterized by service, faith, and love, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
A graduate of Fremont High School, Lloyd's journey began with a commitment to service as a member of the Civil Air Patrol, leading him to join the United States Air Force. His dedication took him to Vietnam, where he served honorably. Following his military service, he pursued higher education and obtained a Bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska through an Air Force program.
Lloyd's life in ministry blossomed after he attended Pepperdine University, where he earned his Master of Ministry degree. Soon thereafter, he was ordained as a minister at the First Christian Church, where he poured his heart and soul into serving his community. His passion for helping others extended beyond the church as he dedicated years of his life as a chaplain with the Albuquerque Police Department, where he was recognized as Chaplain of the Year in 2012. He also volunteered with Church Starters of New Mexico, helping to foster new communities of faith.
Lloyd's love for life was matched only by his love for his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife of many years, Betty Hoover, and his cherished daughters, Cheryl and her husband Rex Morford, and Chandra and her husband Lynn Lyons. He was a devoted father and grandfather, whose kind spirit and joyful presence will be sorely missed.
Outside of his service and ministry, Lloyd had a passion for adventure, particularly enjoying rides on his beloved Gold Wing motorcycle, which represented his free-spirited nature and zest for life.
Funeral services to honor Lloyd's remarkable life will be held at a later date, allowing family and friends to gather in reverence and celebration of his life. In this time of mourning, we invite those whose lives he touched to reflect on the gifts he shared, the faith he propagated, and the love he dispensed.
Rest in peace, dear Lloyd. Your legacy of love, service, and faith will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know you.
