Linda M. Skocypec

Linda M. Skocypec, 57, our loving wife and mother, passed into God's hands June 9, 2016. Linda was born in East Chicago, IN to Richard and Joan Gammie. She loved her family and friends, and she focused her life helping others. Linda earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and then served as an RN over a 12-year career in the Chicago area, Champaign-Urbana, IL and Albuquerque, NM. Linda then committed herself to her most important work - raising her three daughters to become exceptional women with Christian values, integrity, compassion, and a love of life. In 2001, Linda began her third career teaching as a founding member of the Children of Faith Preschool. She impacted many by teaching Christian morals over 11 years as a preschool teacher. Throughout her life, Linda was quick to volunteer, support, and assist those in need. In 2012 Linda was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's disease, which she fought valiantly and with a positive attitude.
She is survived by Russ, her husband of 34 years; and her three beautiful children, Stephanie, Valerie and Rachel. She is also survived by her mother, Joan; her brother, Bill; and her sister, Donna. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Linda Skocypec Alzheimer's Assoc. Tribute Fund at www.alz.org.
Linda's Memorial Service will take place Saturday, July 2, 2016, 2:00 p.m., at Faith Lutheran Church, 10000 Spain Road NE, Albuquerque, NM. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. prior to the start of the service. All are welcome.
