Leonard Chavez

Leonard Chavez, a beloved member of the community, peacefully passed away on December 16, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 10, 1938, in Tererro, NM, Leonard was the son of the late Eraquio and Teresita Chavez. He was a devoted husband, caring father, cherished grandfather, and doting great-grandfather. Leonard's legacy will forever be engraved in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving spouse, Gloria Chavez, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Leonard will be deeply missed by his children, Sandra Chavez, Doreen Garni (husband Joe Garni), Jennifer Espinosa (husband Fernando Espinosa), and David Chavez (wife Michaela Chavez) as well as his beloved 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy to his life.

Leonard embraced life with a joyful spirit and a mischievous sense of humor. He found immense happiness in spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as their laughter brought him immeasurable joy. Leonard was also an avid gardener, tending to his vegetable garden with diligence. In his free time, he enjoyed the thrill of the casino, testing his luck and creating unforgettable memories.

The funeral services to celebrate Leonard's life will be held in the coming days. The family will welcome friends and loved ones for a visitation and rosary at the FRENCH-University on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 6:00 pm. A Mass in honor of Leonard's life will be held at the Queen of Heaven Parish on December 29, 2023, at 10:00 am.

Leonard Chavez leaves behind a lasting legacy of laughter, love, and cherished memories. His infectious spirit and warm heart touched the lives of all who knew him, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends. In this time of mourning, we remember the beautiful life he lived and find solace in knowing that he is now at peace. May he rest in eternal serenity.
