Leonard Clifton Simmons, Sr., 76, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2024, surrounded by his beautiful wife of 37 years, Ann, and other loving family. 2 Timothy 4:7, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
Leonard was born to Lorraine and Allan Simmons, Sr., on December 19, 1947, in Chicago, IL. He graduated from Highland High School in 1966 and later attended the Technical Vocational Institute (now Central New Mexico Community College) where he received an Associates in Electronics Technology.
Leonard and Ann met in the fall of 1986 and were married in 1987, remaining so for the rest of his life. Together they raised three wonderful sons, Leonard Jr., Marshall, and David. Leonard was always actively involved in school sports where the boys excelled through their school years, especially in football, wrestling, and baseball. At one point, he even served as the booster club president.
He loved to travel with his lovely Ann whenever they could. Leonard had a tremendous passion for reading books of all genres. His favorite, of course was the Bible where he spent much of his adult life sharing God's word with friends, family, and anyone who would listen. He could go on for hours on end when he found a welcoming ear.
Leonard was a faithful servant of the Hosanna Ministries, now known as Faith Comes by Hearing, a non-profit organization whose goal is "to work in partnership to see that the Word of God is recorded and freely provided in every language that needs it, by the year 2033." He served in ministry for over 23 years, retiring in 2007. Leonard and Ann worked together at the ministry for many years, helping to share the word of God to literally hundreds of people around the globe.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Allan and Lorraine Simmons, his older brother Allan Simmons, Jr., and younger sister Candy Simmons. He is survived by his wife Ann Simmons, sons Leonard Simmons, Jr., Marshall Simmons (Melanie), and David Simmons. Leonard is also survived by his sisters Carol Van Horn (Luke), Hazel Martinez (Chris), and Lorraine Wilson (Harry). He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. The love he had for them was unconditional.
