Lela (Maxine) Rose Foley

January 18, 1924 — January 18, 2024

Albuquerque

Maxine passed away peacefully at home on her 100th birthday surrounded by her family and went home to her lord and savior at 9:48 pm.

Maxine was born January 18, 1924, to Lela Mae (Payne) Rose and Eddy Rose in Oklahoma City, OK. Her father passed away when she was a toddler. Mae remarried Johnny Williamson several years later.

Maxine and her mother, Mae, along with grandparents, aunts and uncles homesteaded from Oklahoma to northern New Mexico (Mora-Ojo Feliz-Las Vegas area). Her grandfather, Jessie Payne, was a minister who helped establish the Church of Christ in the area. He learned Spanish from the Alcon family and they learned English from him. They met in different homes until the church was built.

In 1941, Maxine married widower, Charles Foley who had three sons Pete, Bob, and Jack. Charles and Maxine had two daughters Beverly Foley Lemon Murtha and Debra Lee Foley, who passed away at 10 days old.

As a family, many years were spent hunting, fishing and camping. Traveling for government jobs during the 2nd world war, Maxine enjoyed gardening, baking, doing floral arrangements, being a homemaker and being involved in the church.

Maxine loved her family (five generations) and enjoyed all their accomplishments. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Foley Lemon Murtha; grandchildren, Cyndi Anaya (Rick) and Steven Lemon (Sarah); great-grandsons, William Aplin (Randie), Aaron Anaya, and Truitt Lemon; and great- great-grandsons, Damien Aplin and Colton Golobic Aplin.
