Laura Bernasconi, age 84, passed away on June 25, 2026, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. She was born on December 30, 1941, in the community of Navajo Mine, New Mexico to Jose Maria and Alacardia Ramirez. The family relocated to Utah and then to 12 miles northeast of Rock Springs, Wyoming to the Rock Springs Mine, where Laura grew up.
In her senior year, the family relocated to Gamerco, New Mexico and then to Albuquerque. She was assigned to Albuquerque High School, but was transferred to the new Rio Grande High School, where she graduated.
After High School, Laura became the Administrative Assistant for her father's business (Joe's Appliance Store). Soon after, she met Bruno, and they quickly fell in love and got married. At this time, Bruno told Laura that she could continue to work or be a homemaker. Laura chose the latter, and for over 61 blissful years, they were together.
Laura loved to entertain and while doing this, she made sure everyone had a doggie bag to take home. She loved cooking, baking, and gardening. She will be missed immensely.
Laura not only became a homemaker but a mother to their daughter, Alesia, then a grandmother and finally a great-grandmother.
Laura is survived by her husband, Bruno; her siblings, David and Mary; grandsons, Adam (Adrianna) and Anthony; and great-grandsons, Thomas, Isaiah, Roger, Lucas and Adrian; and her niece, Michelle.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady Queen of Angels, 1701 Tulip Rd SE in Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
