Larry Dale Holman Sr., 82, passed away on January 30, 2026, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Born on July 27, 1943, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Larry lived a life marked by dedication to education, service to others, and a deep appreciation for history and culture.

Larry pursued his undergraduate studies in Texas before embarking on a lifelong career in education. In 1966, he began working for the Navajo Region Eastern Navajo Agency. A calling that would define his professional life. His commitment to the Navajo Nation led him to serve with the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), where he remained until his retirement in 2001. Larry then continued to share his expertise and passion by consulting for the To'hajiilee School, furthering his impact on generations of students and educators.

Throughout his life, Larry embraced opportunities to travel the world with family. These journeys allowed him to experience diverse cultures and meet people from all walks of life-experiences he cherished deeply. He held a profound respect for military history and took great pride in the American way of life.

Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Austin Holman; his son, Gary Wayne Holman; and his parents, L.D. and Inez Roland Holman.

He is survived by his son, Larry Don Holman Jr. and daughter-in-law, Alberta Holman; grandchildren Lynette Lopez, Nathan Holman, Megan Holman, Jessie Vinson, and L.D. Holman; many great grandchildren; his sister Lynette King Ross and her husband Dr. Charles Ross. Nephews George and Aaron King; and brother Randy Holman his wife Donna Holman and his niece Montana Marie Williams.

Larry lived a wonderful life filled with purpose, he was dearly loved by all and will be deeply missed. We will forever remember our Cheii with warmth and gratitude. 

A Graveside Service will be held on February 14, 2026 at Hope Cemetery in Henrietta, Texas.
 A Memorial Service will be held on February 20, 2026, at 10:00 AM at To'jahajiilee Community School Gym 67 Tribal Rd N7071, To'hajiilee, New Mexico.
