Kyonia Teresa Tecumseh was born on December 1, 1947 in Wenatchee, WA to Chief Kiutus Tecumseh and Marie Jefferson Tecumseh. She grew up in White Swan, WA. She completed high school at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, NM.

Kyonia was an enrolled member of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska and a member of the LDS church. She furthered her education by attending several colleges in Washington, Utah, and New Mexico.

Kyonia passed away in Albuquerque, NM on July 11, 2026 at age 78.

Kyonia was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Wekota Nevada CrowGhost and Rose Marie Cristobal; and her brother, John Thomas Tecumseh.

She is survived by her son, Robert Kiutus Tecumseh; and grandsons, Riley Kiutus Tecumseh and Jack Douglas Tecumseh, all of Albuquerque. Also surviving her are her sister, Sacajawea Ramona Tecumseh of Tempe, AZ; and her brother, Kiutus Tecumseh of Albuquerque.

A private graveside service will be held by family at Sunset Memorial Park where she will be interred.
