Kenneth Dale Simpson (Ken) was born on July 1, 1943, in Littlefield, Texas. He spent most of his life in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Kenneth graduated from Sunray, TX High School in 1961.
Kenneth served as an Instrument Technician in the United States Air Force from January 1965. During the Vietnam War, he served in the United States and was involved with satellite tracking. Kenneth was honorably discharged in October 1968. Ken was very patriotic and was a shining example of the values of the United States and the U.S. Military.
Kenneth held the position of Broadcast Engineer with KOAT TV Channel 7 in Albuquerque, N.M., for 33 years. He was involved with the Albuquerque International Balloon Festival coverage for many years. He was also involved in the initial implementation of the TV broadcast industry, incorporating satellite communications.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Dora Simpson, in 1999, along with brothers Armo and Robert and sisters Fleta Mae, Roberta, And Beth.
He married Marge on July 5, 2003. For the next 21 years, he lived the golden years of his life with the Love of his Life in Albuquerque, N.M. They had known each other since 1970 and were friends with each other and their spouses. This friendship continued, and they decided to take their relationship to another level.
Neither one of them ever looked back on that decision.
Kenneth was an exceptional carpenter, pouring his heart and soul into every project he undertook. His meticulousness in design and implementation was unparalleled, with the concept of 'good enough' being foreign to his thought processes. His dedication to his craft was a testament to his character.
Ken enjoyed a variety of different styles of music. Acoustic guitar and Old Gospel music were his favorites, and the sound of these genres continues to fill the Simpson household.
He could always be found with his Old Timer pocketknife and nail clippers, ready to tackle any task.
Ken was a man of unwavering faith, a devout Christian who lived according to Christian principles. His and Marge's daily morning routine of prayer, devotionals, and Scripture reading, accompanied by a cup of coffee, reflected their deep spirituality. This routine allowed them to read the Bible several times over the course of several years, a testament to his commitment to his faith.
Services for Ken will be held Monday, August 5th at Bella Vista Baptist Church, 2800 Louisiana Blvd in Albuquerque, NM at 11:00am. A reception will follow to allow all to share stories with the family. Ken will be laid to rest at Santa Fe National Cemetery on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024, with military honors.
