Kenneth passed away on September 6, 2025 of congestive heart failure at the age of 83. Kenneth was born in Albuquerque on June 27, 1942 to Blair Eugene and Jessie Lela (Johnson) Renouard. He is survived by his wife, Carole and his son, Jordan and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his son, John Keith Renouard and his parents. Ken married Carole Jean Harrall in 1967 in Los Alamos, NM. Kenneth worked 29 years as a mathematics teacher for Albuquerque Public Schools at Garfield Middle School and Sandia High School. He graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Mathematics, additional coursework in education and minor in anthropology.
Kenneth was a man of many talents and facets. He became a Christian at age 12 and never wavered in his love for Jesus.
Ken learned to play piano at an early age. He served as pianist for several years at 2nd Street Christian Church as a teenager. He learned trumpet in grade school, and continued into band at Valley High School. In college a teacher left him her guitar which he learned but soon discovered that he preferred the mandolin. Ken built his own harpsichord in 1965-67 from a kit with very little help.
Ken had a natural mechanical ability and loved fixing and building things. He was a self-taught handyman at home. When Ken was 18 he was injured in an auto accident which crushed his left hand and damaged his left lower arm. After many surgeries, he was able to regain use of his hand and arm. Ken's neighbor offered him a job in his body shop to help him recover. Ken learned to repair car finishes, and spent much time working on his own car, a British MGA. He would take the car apart and put it back together by himself. He worked on all his own cars until that finally required diagnostic equipment for repairs. Ken got a CB radio and then a ham radio and license, and would often add radios and antennas to his cars.
In 1972, Kenneth joined the New Mexico Mounted Patrol, a state legislated auxiliary of the New Mexico State Police as part of Troop 2. He and maintained two old police cruisers with magnetic shields to the doors and a detachable emergency light across the roof. Troopers worked together in pairs or would pair up and "ride along" with a state policeman in their patrol car. The state police provided weekend training at their academy in Santa Fe. Kenneth gained much confidence from his training and experience in the Mounted Patrol and worked in Troop 2 for ten years serving an elected term as Sargeant. When his fellow State Police officers discovered that Ken was an amateur photographer, they called on him, usually at night, to take pictures of car accidents on the interstate. Ken was an excellent marksman and competed on Troop 2's pistol team. As a result of his police experience, he was asked by TVI (CNM) to teach an after school class on Police Science for three years. In addition to learning police science, his students benefited from Ken's stories of experiences in the Mounted Patrol. Many students coming out of his class later worked in police work.
Ken also liked to garden, fish and hunt. He also found time to help his boys with homework and music lessons. Carole and Kenneth worked together on the yard, shopping, cooking and laundry. Ken was a great father and husband!
After Ken retired, he started writing. He wrote over 44 stories some of them 400 pages long, and wrote philosophical works as well. Although none of his work was published in his lifetime, writing brought joy to his family and friends.
