Kenneth Edward Burke, age 83, passed away on September 21, 2026, surrounded by his beloved daughters.
Ken was born in Norwood, Massachusetts to Edward and Anna Burke on February 10, 1943. He was the eldest of two children. While serving in the Army, Ken was stationed in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he met and married the love of his life, Ann Garfield. They were married on January 30, 1965. Ann and Ken had two daughters, Jamie Ann Morley and Lisa Burke Joyce, who gave them two grandsons, Kenny James Morley and Owen Kenneth Joyce.
Ken was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa and friend. He retired from IBM after 30 as a Systems Engineer. He loved reminiscing about his childhood on Cape Cod and his time working at Turner’s Ice Cream parlor. He always felt blessed to be born in America and to live a life where his most difficult decision was whether to swim in Hathaway’s Pond or the ocean each day. As an adult, Ken developed a passion for golf and scuba diving. He traveled the world pursuing birdies (of the golf course variety) and whale sharks with his family.
Ken is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Ann; parents, Edward and Anna; and great grandchild, Madalyn Juliana Morley. He is survived by daughter, Jamie Morley and son-in-law Nate Morley; daughter Lisa Joyce and son-in-law Owen Joyce; grandsons, Kenny Morley (wife, Jillian) and Owen Joyce; great granddaughter, Mia Grace Morley; Brother, Robert Burke; and numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church at 10:00 am on October 16th immediately followed by internment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery and then a reception at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. In lieu of flowers, Ken would have loved donations to St. Jude through the following link: http://giftfunds.stjude.org/KenBurkeMemorial.
