K.E. (Gene) Bunnell, 95, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2025. Gene was born August 31, 1930 in rural Indiana. He was the only child of Lyman and Miriam (Palmer) Bunnell. The family moved to Beloit, Wisconsin in 1935. Gene married his high school sweetheart, Erma Crawford on October 27, 1950. In 1959, Gene and Erma moved their three young daughters to Albuquerque, New Mexico. A couple of years later a fourth daughter completed their family.
Gene worked for General Electric (formerly ACF) until his retirement in 1990. In retirement, Gene achieved his lifelong dream of owning and operating a ranch in the South Valley. Many champion Arabians were bred, trained and shown by LFD Arabians at local and regional events throughout the Southwest.
Gene is preceded in death by his wife of almost 70 years, Erma; daughter Diana Bunnell, and grandson Creston Edgeington. He is survived by his daughters Deborah Fisher (Roger), Denise Bunnell, Dawn Edgeington; grandchildren Erich Fisher (Kate), Alex Fisher (Katie), Morgan Pilson (Tony), Ryan Platte (Emma), Lily Edgeington; and six great-grandchildren.
A private service will be held at a later date.
