On Saturday, November 9, 2019, Kenneth D. Bloom earned his heavenly reward after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Kenneth passed away peacefully in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His loving companion, Anna Lucero and his eldest child, Leonard Bloom, were by his side. He was proceeded in death by his wife of 56 years, the late Mary Lou Bloom.
Kenneth was raised in Parker, Idaho. Upon graduation from high school Kenneth entered the United States Air Force and served his country for 4 years. He graduated from New Mexico State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis on Computer Science. Prior to the death of his late wife, Mary Lou, he had lived in Alamogordo, New Mexico for 54 years where he worked for the federal government. He retired from Holloman AFB Tuesday, February 12, 1997.
Kenneth was the eldest of eight children born to the late George and Mildred Bloom. He was the husband of the late Mary Lou Bloom. Kenneth is survived by his loving companion Anna Lucero of Albuquerque; his six children, Leonard Bloom (Frances), Judette Armstrong (Ralph), Sandra Wynn (Mike), Donna Ahlers (Herman), Harry Bloom (Martha) and Jackie Bloom Dooley (Patrick); 12 beloved grandchildren, Michelle Bloom Campos (Tony), Caley Morales (Louie), Sonny Knight (Anna), David Knight (Kailey), the late Terry Redmon (Sally), Melissa Redmon, Michael Redmon, Lauren Redmon, Joshua Bloom (Jennifer), Casey Sampson (Cody), Andrea Pierce (Matt) and Bobby Gaffney (Hannah); 23 treasured great-grandchildren and a large extended family. His extended family includes several in-laws, nieces and nephews as well as his siblings; JoAnn Herrera, Nolan Bloom (Emmy), Alan Bloom, Wendell Bloom, Zane Bloom (JoAnn), the late Duane Bloom and the late Clayne Bloom. He is also survived by his brother in-law, Harry Schofield (Michelle) from Albuquerque and many friends whom were blessed to know him.
Kenneth enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling and working on small building projects. He was a devout Catholic and enjoy worshiping with family and friends. Kenneth will be forever remembered and loved by his family and friends.
A Rosary will be recited on Friday, November 15, 2019, 9:15 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Albuquerque The Mass will be held immediately after the Rosary, Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
The family would like to thank everyone for their countless prayers and well wishes during Kenneth’s long battle with Alzheimer’s. We would like to thank the staff at Retreat Alzheimer’s Specialty Care who cared for our father during the final months of his life. A special thank you is extended to Anna Lucero who spent the past 7 years with our father. Anna was a gift from heaven, she loved our father unconditionally and cared for him up until the time of his death. We can never thank her enough for all of the love and care she gave our father.
