Katherine Ann Prestwich

Katherine (Kathy) Ann Prestwich departed this world on July 27, 2025, peacefully surrounded by many family members. On October 22, 1937, Katherine Ann Sibley was born at her Grandparents home in Lidlington, Bedfordshire, England. Granny Lunn was the mid-wife for this birth. Kathy was the second child of Amy Lunn Sibley and Joseph William (Bill) Sibley of Ridgmont, Bedfordshire, England. On July 6, 1957, she and Kenneth Prestwich were married in Lidlington and then moved to Idaho in November 1958. In 1962, they moved to Albuquerque and she joined the British Brides Club and enjoyed life time friendships with many members of that club. In Albuquerque, they raised a wonderful family. She travelled back to England frequently to visit family and restore her British accent and renew other customs.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Brain Sibley and his spouse Jean.

She is survived by her sister Florence Banfield, her brother Terrance Sibley, Ken, her loving husband for 68 years, daughter Lorraine (Mark), son Carl (DyAnna), and son Alan (Jayna), 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Family members live in New Mexico, Texas and Colorado with many of them pursuing successful careers. All of the grandchildren talk frequently about the impact that Kathy had on their lives.

Katherine volunteered to manage the gift shop at the old Lovelace hospital for several years. In the 1980's, Kathy was a librarian at the LDS Chelwood Ward, where she also taught Sunday School.

Kathy loved working in their back yard to make a beautiful Albuquerque style English garden. She joined a gardening club shortly after moving to Albuquerque and improved the yards of all three homes that they lived in.

Kathy loved sports and was on a bowling team for several years. She really enjoyed playing golf and, at various times, was a member of the women's golf associations at three of the Albuquerque City Courses and at Alto Lakes Golf and Country Club near Ruidoso. For several years, Kathy and Ken belonged to a Senior Golf Association out of South Carolina and played in tournaments in Maine, Florida and California. She especially enjoyed playing golf with her brothers. Kathy was a devoted fan of UNM Lobo Basketball with seasons tickets for more than 50 years.

Kathy was a deeply loving person and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
