Katherine (Moya) Miera

November 25, 1932 — June 23, 2023

Katherine (Kitty) Miera was born in Santa Fe, NM on Friday,November 25, 1932 and died on Friday, June 23, 2023 at the age of 90. She was the daughter of Ignacio and Braulia Moya. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Oralando Paul Miera I; her son Orlando Paul Miera II; her siblings Isabel Baca and husband Dave; Joe I. Moya and his wife Rosie; Rosina Pickens and her husband Johnny; Guadalupe Moya and wife Frances; Roberto Moya; and her in-law Dolores and Vito Miera Sr.; LuVena Trujillo and husband Alex; Vito Miera Jr.; Juliette Aguilar and husband Jimmy; Joseph Baca Sr. and Joseph Baca Jr.

Kitty is survived by her daughter-in-law Barbara Miera; daughter Rosemary Schrock, and husband Dave; son Steve Miera and wife Rhonda; five grandchildren Brandon Miera and wife Taylor, Shannon Boulanger and husband Evan, Amanda Miera, Daniel Miera and wife Kalie, and Robert Schrock; three great-granddaughters Oakley, Reagan Miera and Camilla Boulanger; sisters-in-law Sue Moya, Olivia Moya, Lucille Miera, and Thelma Baca; several nieces, nephew, great-nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews; great-great-great nieces and nephews; and eight Godchildren.

Kitty was active in Catholic churches throughout her life including St. Francis of Assisi, Christo Rey in Santa Fe where she sang in the choir at both churches. She was involved in the Altar Rosary Society, Sacred Heart Society, Catholic Daughters of America, Mission San Diego De Alcala, Ladies Guild where she served as Vice President. Kitty also taught CCD first grade communion bible class for ten years. She was active in the New Mexico Society of CPA's, the Women's Auxiliary of the Society of CPA's in San Diego, and the San Diego Chapter Woman's Auxiliary. Kitty was princess of the 1957 Santa Fe Fiesta sponsored by the Catholic Daughters of America. This is where she met her husband Orlando Paul Miera I. They married in 1959 and enjoyed 56 years of marriage. Kitty worked for Dr. George A. Segura a very prominent dentist in Santa Fe. She was also a dental assistant until she married Orlando and moved to Albuquerque. She returned to Albuquerque in 1991 after living in San Juan Puerto Rico, San Diego and San Francisco, California for 24 years. She continued to be active in Risen Savior Catholic Community, Women's Guild and taught First Communion preparation. Kitty was also involved in Ladies Outreach, Engaged Enrichment and Marriage Enrichment programs. She was an altar server, and served as the chairman and captain of the bereavement ministries.

With God and her strong faith she reached a full fruitful life as a daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mom, grandmother, great grandmother, Godmother, friend and relative person.

A Prayer Vigil will be held Thursday July 13, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. at FRENCH- Wyoming. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday July 14, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Risen Savior Catholic Community 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE Albuquerque, NM 87109. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
