Karl Stephen Schmitt

A man of deep faith and compassion, Karl Schmitt passed away on August 5th, 2026, after a brief yet valiant battle with acute myeloid leukemia. He was preceded in death by his father, Heinz Schmitt, and is survived by his mother, Barbara Schmitt, sister, Karen Glenn, and niece, Darby Glenn.

A lifelong resident of Albuquerque, Karl found great joy in his Community of Grace Church community, cheering on the Lobo basketball team with friends, and sharing laughter over his favorite comedy movies. He will be remembered for his kindness, gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and the genuine care he showed to those around him.

The family would like to thank Karl's caregiver, Sandra, as well as Amber Care Hospice and Visiting Angels.

Funeral services will be held at French Funeral Home on Wyoming Blvd. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 10:00am, followed by graveside internment at Sunset Memorial Park on Menaul Blvd.
