In Loving Memory of Karen Melissa Silva

March 6, 1974 - August 8, 2026

Karen Melissa Silva, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on August 8, 2026, at the age of 52. She was born in Albuquerque on March 6, 1974.

Karen was a woman whose life was defined by love, devotion, faith, and family. Her greatest joy was her family, and she was deeply devoted to her husband, Andrew, and her children, Drew and Makayla. She was also a dedicated daughter who loved and cared deeply for her parents, Chris and Patti Baca.

Karen had a gift for making people feel loved through the things she did for them. She was a talented crafter, a wonderful cook, and a gifted baker. She especially cherished family traditions, including preparing Grandma Baca's beloved Lenten meal every Good Friday-a tradition that reflected both her love for her family and the importance she placed on keeping those memories alive.

Karen's faith in Jesus Christ was deep and unwavering. Her relationship with Christ was an important part of who she was and the way she lived her life. Her faith gave her strength, guided her heart, and brought her comfort and hope. Those who knew Karen will remember not only her kindness and generosity, but also the love and faith she shared with those around her.

Karen leaves behind a family who loved her beyond words. She is survived by her husband, Andrew Silva; her children, Drew and Makayla Silva; her parents, Chris and Patti Baca; her brother, Jason Baca; her mother-in-law, Vicky Silva; her brothers-in-law, DavidMark, Michael, and Jim; her sisters-in-law, Marilyn, Sharla, Adrienne, Sandra, Marcy, and Nicole; and her 21 nieces and nephews, God children: Nova Estrada-Silva, Levi Silva, Jailyn Skye Baca, Ryan James Wheeler, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
She also leaves behind her beloved best friend, Felice Wheeler, whose friendship became something much deeper-a sisterhood built on love, trust, and years of shared memories.

Karen's absence leaves an immeasurable space in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Yet her family finds comfort in knowing that the love she gave so freely will continue through her children, her family, the traditions she treasured, and the countless lives she touched.

Though we mourn the loss of Karen, we celebrate the beautiful life God gave her and the love she brought into this world. Her memory will live on in every family gathering, every recipe and tradition she passed down, every act of kindness, and every heart she touched.

Until we meet again, Karen. Your love, your laughter, your faith, and your memory will remain with us always.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
