Julia Ann Searcy-Ortega, age 59, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2019. She was born on Thursday, March 17, 1960.
Julia loved to travel and be by the beach. The sea was a place where she felt free. Music was another freeing passion for Julia. She frequented concerts and loved her Rock n’ Roll! Her favorite musicians were Tom Petty, Blondie, Fleetwood Mac, Def Leopard, and Prince… just to name a few. She was the ultimate Denver Broncos fan and always showed her team spirit, especially during football season. From August to January, Orange and Blue was a paramount presence and the Broncos better be in the Playoffs!
Her most beloved activity was cheering for her sons at their sporting events – football, baseball and track. She was proud of her stepdaughters, Amber who is a doctor in San Diego and Amanda operates her own business in Albuquerque. Julia’s youngest son, Jarod, just graduated high school and will begin college at CNM in the fall, and her eldest son, Joseph, was accepted into the New Mexico State Police Academy. She was very proud of her sons and stepdaughters and made that well known.
Julia leaves behind her mother, Sandy; two sons, Joseph and Jarod; two stepdaughters, Amber and Amanda as well as Amanda’s husband, Derek Ritz and their two kids, Carson and Giovanna; her brother, Jeff; nephew, Cody Cooper; and her two dogs, Sugar and Tebow.
Julia’s bright and colorful soul will be greatly missed, but her spirit will continue to shine among us every day.
