Julia B. Montoya King, age 95, passed away on June 21, 2025, in Albuquerque, NM. She was born on August 7, 1929, in Lucero, NM, near Mora to Aureliano Montoya and Maria Luz Mitchell Montoya. She grew up and went to school in Las Vegas, NM. She lived with her family in the San Fernando Valley, Burbank, and Tehachapi, California for over 40 years, then in Santa Fe, NM and Las Vegas, NV. After retiring from Lockheed Aircraft as a mechanical engineer she came back to NM in 1992. She had many interests, including Republican politics, working on the Ronald Reagan, Barry Goldwater, and Gary Johnson campaigns. Other interests were art, including lapidary, bicycling, tennis, and mountain climbing with the Sierra Club. She traveled to Europe and to Italy and to the holy land. She was married twice. With her second husband, Delbert King, she had two children, Glenda King and Daniel King. She has one grandson from Glenda, Julian Mullins, who lives in New York. She is also survived by her two sisters, Eloisa Montoya Nieto and Ida Montoya Gallegos, and their families, all of Albuquerque, NM. French Funerals and Cremations is handling the arrangements.
Rosary will be held at 8:15 am and mass at 9:00 am on Friday, July 11, 2025, at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church, 5901 St Josephs Dr NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120. Burial will be at 11:00 am at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
